GOING UP RIVER
Oil on Canvas
Sides Painted Black
(No Framing Required)
30" X 40" X 1.5"
We often talk of life in terms of water, using figures of speech to communicate and describe processes of deep emotional experience. Encouraged to "go with the flow", to resist less the forces in our lives - human nature is instinctively programmed to rail against limitation, to defy odds. We rise to the test, resolute in the belief that we can fight our way through impossibility.

ECHOING NATURE
Acrylic and Oil on Canvas
Sides Painted Black
(No Framing Required)
30" X 40" X 1.5"
The connection between man and nature is a true constant. The structure of exotic plants, the outline of animal elements - all powerfully echoed in the varied shapes of our body parts.

UNBOUND
Oil on Canvas
Sides Painted Black
(No Framing Required)
24" X 36" X 1.5"
In a quiet moment of realization, it becomes clear that what defines one's sense of personal power is a set of mostly self-imposed restrictions. To accept ourselves as largely unfettered and limitless, is to be liberated from expectation. Only then can we truly think outside the box...

TRANSFIGURATION
Oil on Stretched Canvas
Sides Painted Black
(Framing Optional But Not Required)
36" X 48" X 1.5"
A dramatic change in landscape draws the eye, but it’s the appearance of sudden radiant light that reveals to the soul the great beauty, spirituality, and magnificence of natural phenomena. Such moments of realization are transcendent - beyond category, beyond the limits of experience. Sand is not just sand, rocks are not just rocks. The femininity of nature is irrefutable.

A ROSE BY ANY OTHER NAME
Acrylic and Oil on Stretched Canvas
Sides Painted Black
(Framing Optional But Not Required)
16" X 40" X 1.5"
What matters most is what something is - not what it's called. Shakespeare had it right; a rose by any other name could never be anything but sweet.
NOTE: This composition has a dark band at the top of the painting

HE
Oil on Canvas
Sides Painted Black
(No Framing Required)
30" X 40" X 1.5"
A swagger in his posture, I fell instantly in love with him, his confidence and virility an irrefutable fact. An entranced state made invisible the truth of sharp and thorny barbs. Not even the hazards of love would deter me from a path I knew I would take.

LETTING GO OF "I"
Oil on Canvas
Sides Painted Black
(No Framing Required)
24" X 36" X 1.5"
How often the word "I" creeps into conversation, asserting itself with casual disregard for other pronouns. This redirection toward self changes the balance of things. We focus less on what others contribute - being only partially involved in the exchange. Egotism and self-involvement can render even the most sentient of us deaf, dumb, and blind.
